Ohio employees can request an OSHA inspection

Employees who believe that they are working in a hazardous environment or who think their employers may be violating safety and health regulations can contact OSHA to request an inspection. Workers can ask OSHA not to inform their employer who requested the inspection, but it is illegal for employers to retaliate against an employee who files a complaint about unsafe working conditions with OSHA. This includes firing, transferring or demoting the employee.

Mother of Man Killed by Bear Advocates for Exotic Animal Ban

We recently wrote about Brent Kandra, the Elyria man killed by a bear last month while feeding the bear at the wildlife compound where he was employed. Although 24-year-old Kandra's death is still under investigation, his mother is already hard at work to ensure that changes are made.

OSHA and BWC Investigate Fatal Bear Mauling in Northern Ohio

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is investigating the possible wrongful death of a 24-year-old man who was killed while feeding a black bear at an exotic animal farm. On August 19, Brent Kandra was mauled by the bear at a compound owned by Sam Mazzola and known as Wildlife Adventures of Ohio. He was transported by helicopter to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland but was later pronounced dead.
