Ohioans often see construction taking place, and hospitals, garages, roads, and bridges are constantly having upgrades completed. It’s not a surprise that construction accidents happen, but when they could have been prevented, it can be frustrating. In recent news reports from Nov. 15, the news claimed that a man had been severely burned while he was completing some work at University Hospitals.
The man was allegedly working while inside the bucket of a lift truck when he ran into trouble, according to the news. At around 8:30 a.m., the fire department was called to the site for what they believe was a possible electrocution. The 50-year-old man and victim of the burns was rescued by the Cleveland Fire Department, according to the news, and he had to be retrieved by rescue workers in their own lift truck. The man was immediately taken to MetroHealth Medical Center, and reports state that he underwent surgery during the afternoon because of the severity of his injuries.
So far, University Hospitals hasn’t been reached by the news, so they haven’t commented on what happened, but reporters believed that the man was working on a garage in the hospital’s complex when he was injured. It’s not yet clear how he would have been electrocuted.
